Gosh! The're for arty stuff - I give up! I just don't understand...

Reading molt's thoughts on meeting fellow-bloggers put me in mind of my experiences of munches and meets in spanko/BDSM world. This is what I wrote when I was single and attending such events:

I have now attended several munches and a couple of events locally, but as a means of socialising. I can’t see myself attending lots of munches, events, fairs and such, but it’s fun and interesting to meet non-vanilla folk. I enjoy the banter and ‘normality’ as well as the ‘edge’ of knowing of others’ ‘interests’. I do believe that if one wishes to meet compatible partners whether for play, life, fun or depth it makes sense to meet others with same or similar interest. For anyone (especially other women) wondering about such a step, my experience has been very positive. Both spankers and BDSMers have been welcoming, non-threatening and good fun. The conversations have been those you’d expect from a mixed, friendly group in any pub, except it has included others’ perspectives on BDSM and spanking…

Went to BDSM Wales munch and party on Saturday.
Munch was very select – hardly any of us there! That said, it’s nice to be able to chat and find out a bit more about people. I had a nice time just chatting as you would with any group of friendly folk.

At munch we chatted about hoarding and throwing things away. When I said that having my house cleared ruthlessly would reduce me to tears a certain someone was even more eager to offer!

One of things I’ve hoarded is my collection of old Forums. Don’t know how many Forum magazine readers are out there but it’s something I read throughout the seventies and early eighties. I’d always hoped they’d be worth a fortune one day, but apparently lots of other hoarders have kept them pretty worthless! I understand many men into spanking were brave enough to buy spanking mags in their youth. I’d have been too terrified, even if I knew where to find them! I always feverishly searched Forum in high hopes and occasionally struck gold, but not often enough. Considering how popular a ‘foible’ it is, I find it rather surprising in retrospect.

Enjoyed chatting at the BDSM Wales party at Cellbound. As said I don’t consider myself ‘scene’ and see parties as opportunities to socialise. Had interesting chats with people on BDSM/spanking stuff and everyday things too. It’s nice to get idea of other people’s interests in BDSM/spanking and get an idea of them as other people.

I go to BDSM events locally because they are local and now it’s nice that the others are familiar, friendly faces. I shall be going further afield to London week after next to meet up with people from Britishspanking.com at a midday munch. Although the Welsh BDSMers are laid back and very ‘live and let live’ I feel less defensive about my ‘limits’ with spanking group for obvious reasons. Have now been to London and Coventry for such munches and it’s also been fun to put names to faces as I really enjoy following notice board chats on the site. It was really funny at Coventry because it’s obviously the same for others as well – I got several “So you’re Suzee Moon!” comments.

ps Very funny mix of ads on preview for this - There's obviously something missing from my life - ads are for Jesus or dating opportunities! And by saying that I'll get more Jesus and dating stuff!
