Well, if I got into a scrap with the BDSMers I'd obviously lose 'cos as a mere spankee, I'm a bit of a wuss! I'm not really into a 'versus' mentality but there is something I'd like to explore and I couldn't resist title.

BDSM is general term used instead of S&M and stands for (I think!) Bondage, Domination, submission/sadism and masochism and tends to include fetish and paraphelia (proper term for much of fetish stuff)

Those that see spanking as 'not' BDSM are those who see spanking as non-sexual (I've discussed previously on blog and my website) or those that find other BDSM practices extreme. Personally I find spanking totally erotic and part of the BDSM continuum.

There is an issue about whether spankos 'develop' into BDSMers and so expand their horizons. While powerplay and a touch of bondage is also erotic for me, I am so focussed on spanking I can't see that happening - Which brings me to the point that triggered this. I've been thinking about spanking stories - both reading and writing.

I write short stories featuring spanking and often they are first and/or 'conversion' spankings. I like these because they are my primary fantasy fodder. And I like reading other people's short stories on spanking. What I don't like about full-length stories on spanking is that they usually feature a 'Road to Submission'. I've nothing against this - I just do not find becoming increasingly submissive nearly as erotic as spanking.

Trying to get published as spanking story-writer, the feedback I get is that the 'journey' is what is wanted and what sells. I realise these stories are popular, but am sure there are others who enjoy short stories where spanking (with just enough submission )is the main event. My Cariad and I have written three 'Wild West stories' where there is continuity although the stories stand alone. We have considered turning them into a mad spanking Western, where Suzee just gets herself into enough scrapes to get herself regularly spanked. I've no problems with upping severity, just don't want to do whole submissive journey thing if that makes sense.
