Writing spanking stuff

by suzeemoon @ Tuesday, 22. Apr, 2008 - 21:59:07

I haven't! Not really and not for ages anyway. I've written lots in the past, but being mostly unpublished is frustrating. I am going to self-publish a book of spanking stories soon and done the editing and prep.

I thought it would be a good idea to write some stuff, just to get my hand back in (so to speak!) I have several stories on the go that have not been touched in so long, I forgot where I was with them. I used to write one story at a time, (did two books' worth this way)but then started writing down stuff so I wouldn't forget. Some are just titles to act as triggers. Some are a few paras and some half-written. I checked on one and it was merely a title (I said it's been a while!), another I knew I'd started was actually nearly 9,000 words.

It's vaguely Victorian, but underwear is based on fond memories of Western saloon girls in films seen on TV and my fantasy of Victorian dress. All very corny - She is about to be punished by her husband for risking her safety and is thinking back over recent limited experience of corporal punishment of the maid and herself by him. I loved rereading it and wrote a few hundred words - I'd left it mid-caning!88| Caning is now over and she's distraught, but he is having lascivious thoughts and I'm not sure whether she's going to get a cuddle before she gets the Victorian equivalent of a good bonking which they will both enjoy :>>

I shall post an extract...

I am 70% into writing a BDSM novel, and unsure what to do with it when it's finished.

I know there are publishers out there for this type of thing, i read them all the time so i guess it's just a case of trying them all untill you get a hit.

look forward to reading your extract.

Good luck! You may be more 'marketable' than me! I've had very good responses from individual readers, but publishers believe there has to be more of a journey with the ante being upped. I like writing more first time, exploratory stuff as I find them more exciting.
I have a story I half-wrote in 'Sixteen of the Best' and am exploring self-publishing with Lulu.

I've come to the conclusion that I like starting things, but not finishing them. I think maybe that's why I've moved more into poetry, which is finished at one sitting, as it were.
When I was doing my writing course, I found I could do short stories when I put my mind to it, but having an unfinished novel hanging over me I keep thinking, if I'm going to do anything, I should get on with that... which seems to stymie me completely.
But being unpublished is not only frustrating, it devalues everything you do because of that voice that keeps saying 'what is the point?'
I have thought about trying to self-publish my novel... if I ever get to the end of it :(

Me too! I still have my Mum's voice telling me I was a great starter - and the fads... :>> I have written a 'straight' story about a great starter - I will post some of it.
Last night I actually finished my 'Victorian' short story. Ending needs tidying, but it's done. I am drawn to short stories because they suit me, but I think sheer volume of a novel is overwhelming.

My current novel actually came out of a short story, started based on a creative writing exercise when I went to classes years ago. It had an ending of sorts, but the tutor said it was to good to leave there, and I should develop it, though for years I couldn't see how it could possibly be extended. Now, of course, I have the opposite problem :))
I decided recently to divide into into three volumes, and just concentrate on getting to the end of vol 1 and then self publishing that and seeing what reaction it gets, but even though it's now in spitting distance I somehow can't see me ever getting there :(
In a way, maybe it's the 'not finishing' thing that has drawn me to writing a novel - think how many endings you have to do with short stories :))

Goodness - truly an opus by the sounds of it...
And I am crap at ending spanking stories, but OK at 'straight' ones! :>>

Hardly! :(
Even vol 1 will barely be £40k words - if it ever gets there.
Which is why I'm considering self-publishing - no other bugger will look at it.

A physical book is quite satisfying, so I'm all for self-publishing.

Well, maybe... if I ever get there.
But I never even got my PhD thesis made into a 'proper' book.
Just ring bound. :(
I've been trying to dig out my heroine's first sexual experience.
Quite a challenge, but I found it.
As I said, it's VERY restrained.
But I might post it, anyway.
See what you think.
PS Sorry, I have no explanation for where the '£' sign came from, except I have spent the last week sorting out Parish Council end of year accounts for the auditors :))

£1 a word would be a good incentive... :>>
